If you’re looking for a breathtaking hot spring in Mammoth Lakes, California, you won’t want to miss Wild Willy’s Hot Spring. This natural wonder offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains, and the best part is that it’s completely free! Whether you’re taking a road trip through California or exploring the Mammoth Lakes area, a visit to Wild Willy’s is a must. Check out the tips We’ve shared below to make the most of your visit and have an unforgettable experience.
Wild Willy’s Hot Spring is located just 13 miles outside of the touristy city of Mammoth Lakes, accessible via a bumpy, unpaved road that leads to a small parking lot. From there, you’ll embark on a 10-minute hike along a flat, wooden boardwalk until you reach the first heart-shaped pool, which can accommodate up to a dozen people.
There are two hot springs in total, with temperatures ranging from 95°F to 105°F degrees. The second spring is hotter but can only fit a few people. These hot springs are very popular, as are the many other mineral hot springs in the Long Valley area, such as Whitmore Hot Springs. If you visit Wild Willy’s early in the morning or on a weekday, you’ll have plenty of time to relax in the pools and take in the stunning mountain views.
