Miners Find The Second Biggest Diamond Ever And It’s 2,492 Carats, People Are Amazed

Discovered around 3.3 billion years ago through extreme heat and pressure deep within the Earth’s crust, the first recorded finding of diamonds occurred in India during the 4th century BC. Not until the 13th century did these enigmatic gems make their way to Europe, where they were thought to be tears from the Gods.

In 2012, the Karowe diamond mine in Botswana, owned by Lucara Diamond Corp., has been uncovering sizable, top-quality diamonds. Their excitement peaked with the recent discovery of a massive 2,492-carat rough diamond – the largest seen in 120 years, since the unearthing of the renowned Cullinan Diamond.
