A significant event took place in Supatra’s family on August 5, 1999. When Supatra was born, her parents Sompon and Samrerng were overjoyed, like any other new parents. However, their joy was soon mixed with surprise, fear, and disbelief when the doctor informed them that their baby had an unusual amount of hair. Though they initially thought it was normal, their shock grew when they saw her in the incubator, covered in hair from head to toe. Supatra’s hair was so thick that even the doctors in Thailand had never seen anything like it before.
Upon further examination, doctors diagnosed Supatra with Ambras syndrome, a rare skin disorder. This condition is so uncommon that only 50 cases like hers have been documented in the world since a long time ago.
When Natty was born, the doctors were reluctant to release her and her mother from the hospital. They were concerned that Natty’s mother might abandon her child due to her unique condition. However, Sompon reassured the doctors that she would never leave her child, saying, “We are lucky that she was born into our family.”
Natty had a supportive and loving family, but unfortunately, not everyone was understanding of her condition. She had to cope with unkindness from strangers and peers, which was difficult for her.
Natty’s pictures with her lover, showing her face without any facial hair, had some people thinking that she might have been cured of her condition. However, her father clarified that she had chosen to shave her facial hair to reveal her new look. Now, her eyes, face, mouth, lips, and cheeks are visible, with only her forehead covered by her head’s hair.
Natty later married her boyfriend, calling him “the love of my life.”
