With the help of technology, The city of Vilnius in Lithuania and the city of Lublin in Poland are now connected by a portal in which they can see each other. The portal is of a circular shape that symbolizes the wheel of time, and in science fiction, it represents space and time.

These two cities have a historical connection as the Union of Lublin was signed on 1 July 1569 between Poland and Lithuania in that very city. That union created a single state, the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth, one of the largest countries in Europe at the time. These two cities give the strong message of united, not divided.

There are screens and cameras on both portals to broadcast the other city live. This view on the screen gives the feeling of what astronauts see when looking out onto the world below. This view is called the “overview effect,” which means the sight of the earth in space, so tiny, so fragile in this big world. Despite this view, people are waving and send kisses to each other.
