Do you recall your kindergarten teacher? Was he or she kind and funny like Miss Honey or maybe he or she reminded you of Miss Trunchbull? The bond between a pupil and their first-ever teacher is unique – they were the ones who opened the doors to the amazing world of learning, assisted us with math problems, and wished us all the best as we left their classroom. One teacher went above and beyond to ensure her students would never forget her by allowing them to draw on her dress on their graduation day, creating a beautiful tribute.
Heather Stansberry, a kindergarten teacher from California, recently bid farewell to her first-ever class at Desert Christian Academy in May. To mark such a beautiful milestone, Heather was searching for unique ways to commemorate it.
This kindergarten teacher decided to surprise her students on their graduation day
Heather remembered seeing teachers in the past asking their students to draw on their dresses and decided to give it a try. After all, she knew her students were talented, so she thought it would result in a stunning dress.
A few weeks before the graduation, she gave them a white dress to draw on, promising to wear it on the last day of school
Before the bittersweet moment of her students leaving kindergarten, Heather brought a white dress to class and encouraged her students to unleash their imagination and draw on it. “A few weeks ago, I informed my first-ever class that they could color on my white dress for the last day of school,” Heather recalled during an interview. Picture a massive blank canvas where you can draw whatever your heart desires – now that’s a treat!
When she showed up in an overcoat, the disappointment in their voice was palpable. “Where is the dress?” they wondered
Much to their delight, she revealed that she was wearing it, proudly showcasing their art
“Do you see your drawings?” she asked and everyone started pointing to their creations
Teachers don’t get enough praise for their dedication, hard work and unconditional love they have for their students
